Living has always been an act of rebellion

We bring light to shadow and shadow to light

We embrace what others hide from

We don’t just walk through the darkness

We sit in it

We explore it

We taste its flavors, smell its spices, and run our fingers through its textured layers

We memorize its ways and map them out in ink and melodies to guide other lonesome souls

We do not see the world in Black and White Our familiarity with shades of grey Deters those who would try to sway our hearts

We do not conquer our demons

We invite them to drink tea with us To tell us their troubles and teach us of their world

We crave discomfort for it holds Truth
